Officers responding to a report of suspicious activity in Morden have uncovered a cannabis factory and seized bladed weapons, leading to two arrests.

Police were called at 02:19 on 11 September to St Helier Avenue after receiving reports of a group of males acting suspiciously. Officers quickly responded to the scene and detained one male after stopping a van on nearby Morden Hall Road.

Following the arrest, police conducted a search of a local address, where they discovered a fully operational cannabis factory. Additionally, bladed weapons were found at the property. A second male at the scene was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and possession of an offensive weapon.

Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine if this operation is linked to wider networks of criminal activity in the area.

A spokesperson for the police commended the swift actions of officers, stating that the discovery of illegal substances and weapons underscores the importance of community vigilance in reporting suspicious behaviour.

The investigation remains active, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
