Response officers attended Electric Avenue, Lenton, on Wednesday (28 June) following reports the former Experian building was being burgled.
After receiving that initial call at 9.16pm, police spotted a suspect standing at a bus stop within yards of the building and detained him at 9.25pm.
A second suspect matching the description of one of the burglars was then found nearby a few minutes later after they tried to run from officers.
Crowbars and a ripsaw were then discovered in a vehicle parked nearby, after the keys to the car were seized from one of the suspects.
Nothing is believed to have been taken during the break-in.
Police arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal and going equipped for burglary.
A 31-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal.
PC Joseph Doherty, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Thanks to the rapid response of our officers, we were able to arrive at the scene of this incident within minutes and detain two suspects.
“While we don’t believe anything was ultimately taken from the disused building, it would seem the intruders were trying to steal equipment that didn’t belong to them during this incident.
“Clearly that is not acceptable, so we are pleased to have been able to arrest two suspects in connection with this.
“Our inquiries are still ongoing into this incident, so we’d ask anyone with any information that could assist us to report it to the police on 101, quoting incident 816 of 28 June 2023, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
