A woman has been airlifted to hospital after a dramatic collision between a car and a fire engine in Alsager. The crash happened at the junction of Crewe Road and Close Lane, with the fire engine reportedly heading to an emergency call.
Firefighters provide urgent care
Emergency teams rushed to the scene where firefighters gave immediate care to the car’s driver before paramedics arrived. The injured woman was then flown to Royal Stoke University Hospital by air ambulance.
“Crews attended a road traffic collision involving a car and a fire engine which was on its way to an incident. The driver of the car received casualty care from firefighters until paramedics arrived on scene to take them to hospital. No firefighters have been seriously hurt. Crews made the vehicle safe and an investigation is now underway. A full road closure is in place while vehicles are recovered,” said a fire service spokesperson.
Police confirm road still closed
Cheshire Police confirmed they responded to reports of the collision and that the fire engine was believed to be responding to an emergency call. The driver remains in hospital.
The road remains shut as recovery and investigations are ongoing. Motorists are urged to find alternative routes and avoid the area.
