Firework thrown at child in shocking assault
Police are hunting for witnesses after a 12-year-old boy was hit in the face by a firework in Dunmurry on Saturday night, October 12. The incident happened around 8:30pm on Stewartstown Road when a group of youths allegedly threw the firework at the boy. He was rushed to hospital with a severe eye injury.

Warning as Halloween looms
With Halloween just around the corner, police are urging parents to keep a close eye on their children and warn them about the dangers of fireworks. Chief Inspector Dunne stressed the risks: “They could injure themselves or others, and end up with a criminal record which would impact their future employment and travel prospects.”
Police crackdown on illegal fireworks
The authorities remind everyone that selling, possessing, or using fireworks without a proper licence is illegal and can land you a fine of up to £5,000. Police are working with other agencies to tackle illegal fireworks sales and related anti-social behaviour in the area.
Public urged to report incidents
Residents are urged to report any suspicious activity or fireworks-related incidents by calling 101, or 999 in an emergency. Help police keep the community safe this fireworks season.
