Conman Tricks Elderly Woman, Steals Cash Under False Pretence
Dylan Bandeira talked his way into the home of an 87-year-old woman in Redcar last May, pretending to sell cleaning products. He tried to push overpriced, low-value items before making off with a large sum of her money.
Victim Left Shaken and Afraid in Her Own Home
Though the elderly lady was physically unharmed, she was left terrified and distressed after the robbery, fearing for her safety in her own home.
Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest and Trial
Redcar & Cleveland CID quickly identified and arrested Bandeira within a month. Despite the chance to admit guilt, he refused, forcing the victim to endure the added stress of a court trial.
Justice Served at Teesside Crown Court
“Bandeira’s actions in targeting a vulnerable elderly woman were despicable and all our officers were determined to bring him to justice,” said Detective Sergeant Chris Thurston.
“Our detectives worked extremely hard to gather the best evidence and secure a charge. We’re relieved he was found guilty by a jury on Friday.”
“We hope the lady gains comfort knowing he is behind bars and wish her well going forward.”
