Reckless Drifter Busted in Swindon
A video captured on May 7 shows Daniel Bassett tearing up Osbourne Street in his Lexus, drifting and doing doughnuts like a stunt driver. But his joyride ended in court after he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.
Sentenced to Harsh Penalties
Swindon magistrates slammed Bassett with a tough punishment on November 22:
- Up to 15 days of rehab appointments and activities as directed.
- 200 hours of unpaid work.
- 15 months driving ban, plus an extended driving test before he can get back behind the wheel.
- £85 court costs and a £95 surcharge.
Police Praise the Sentence
“His actions showed severely reckless behaviour and clear danger to those present and the wider public,” said Assistant Chief Constable Deb Smith of Wiltshire Police. “Operation Staysail stays focused on hunting down those causing chaos at car meets. We will keep pushing for the toughest penalties in these cases.”
