Bristol Riot Ringleader Jailed for Attack on Police Station
Guilty of Violent Mayhem in City Centre
Mariella Gedge-Rogers from Clifton, Bristol, has been convicted of rioting outside Bristol’s city centre police station. A Crown Court jury unanimously found her guilty of joining a violent mob that threatened officers and terrified the public on 21 March last year.
Brutal Attack Earns Heavy Sentence
Judge James Patrick slammed Gedge-Rogers as “an active and persistent participant” in the riot. Unlike others who took plea deals, she faced the full force of the law and received a harsher prison term. Her sentence reflects several aggravating actions:
- Taking part in the riot for nearly two hours
- Throwing missiles at police officers
- Using her skateboard as a weapon to strike an officer
- Repeatedly trying to smash windows and break into Bridewell Police Station

Gedge-Rogers is the 14th person locked up over the riot. Collectively, those convicted have racked up over 57 years behind bars.
Police Warn: Violence Will Not Be Tolerated
Detective Superintendent James Riccio said: “Gedge-Rogers has learned her violent actions have serious consequences. Her lengthy jail term shows that attacking police and vandalising our community will be punished severely.”
Important Notice: Legal proceedings are still underway against other suspects involved in the March 21 riot. To ensure a fair trial, media and public must avoid any reporting or online posts that could prejudice the cases.
