Porthcawl Teacher Found Guilty of 28 Sexual Assault Charges Including Rape
Robert Rixon, from Porthcawl, Bridgend, has been convicted at Cardiff Crown Court for 28 charges of sexual assault, including one count of rape. The predator abused three girls aged 11 to 13 at Porthcawl Comprehensive School before striking again years later at another school.
Victims Brave Enough to Speak Out
The first victim bravely came forward in 2018. Soon after, four more women identified themselves as survivors of Rixon’s abuse. The initial offences took place between 2000 and 2005, but Rixon’s crimes didn’t stop there.
New Abuse Uncovered at Heronsbridge School
Between 2013 and 2015, Rixon hired the pool at Heronsbridge School in Bridgend to run a lifesaving club. There, he sexually assaulted two more victims, both aged 11. Three years later, one of these women reported the abuse, triggering a major police investigation.
Police Praise ‘Tremendously Brave’ Victims
Det Con Tony Daniel of South Wales Police saluted the courage of the victims. “To see Rixon behind bars will hopefully enable these five women to move on with their lives in the knowledge that he has finally been brought to justice for his heinous and indefensible crimes,” he said.
“Help and support is available for all victims of sexual violence. We encourage anyone affected, no matter how long ago, to come forward.”
