Predator Thomas Crabtree Jailed for Ten Years After Horrific Assault on Boy

Thomas Crabtree, 35, from Sundew Close, Bedford, has been locked up for a decade. On 12 September at Lewes Crown Court, he was sentenced to ten years behind bars plus six years on licence. He will also spend the rest of his life on the Sex Offenders’ Register.

Brave Boy Helps Nab Sick Groomer

“Thomas Crabtree is a predator who, thanks to the bravery of this young boy, is now safely behind bars,” said Detective Chief Inspector Carrie Williams.

“He manipulated and took advantage of the boy, causing unimaginable psychological trauma over several hours. The victim’s courage ensured this offender won’t hurt anyone else.”

“I want to thank the boy and his family for their determination.”

The Disturbing Details

  • Crabtree groomed his victim on Snapchat under the fake name “Will”.
  • He repeatedly sent sexually explicit images to the boy.
  • On 3 April 2024, Crabtree lured the child to Worthing, drove him to a remote spot near Goring Gap, and raped him.
  • After his vile attack, Crabtree silently drove the boy around before dropping him off and returning to Bedford.
  • Crabtree then blocked the boy on Snapchat and deleted their messages, but shockingly tried to contact him again the following month.

Swift Police Action and Support for Victim

Police traced Crabtree via Snapchat data and arrested him. He faced multiple charges including two counts of rape, assault by penetration, sexual communication with a child, and abduction.

Crabtree pleaded guilty to all charges when he appeared at Hove Crown Court on 10 July and was immediately remanded in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Williams added: “Thanks to Bedfordshire Police and Norfolk Constabulary for their vital help. Victims of sexual abuse – we urge you to come forward. Report online, call 101, or dial 999 in emergencies. We will believe you and fight to get you justice.”
