Brighton Stalker Caught After Targeting Dozens Nationwide
Ameer Tahir, 42, from Kings Road, Brighton, was first charged with 13 counts of stalking. But a run of phone checks and a hidden second phone at his flat uncovered many more victims—dozens across the country.
Obscene Threats Day and Night
Tahir bombarded his victims with calls at all hours, hiding his number. He made vile threats, including rape and violent sexual acts. Using contacts from his hospitality job and mutual acquaintances, he terrorised victims with chilling personal details—names, appearances, and other private info.
Police traced Tahir despite his number blocking and arrested him at home. Released on bail, he kept on harassing victims from his second phone, showing his twisted abuse was far worse than first thought.
Multiple Charges and Guilty Plea
On 5 December 2022, Tahir was pinned down again and charged with 12 stalking counts, 2 indecent/offensive communication charges, racially aggravated stalking, failing to comply with the sex offenders’ register, and possession of a Class B drug. He pleaded guilty to all on 16 January.
Further probes revealed 44 extra stalking victims, which Tahir admitted would be considered at sentencing.
Harsh Sentence and Orders
At Lewes Crown Court on 10 May, Tahir was slammed with a 13-year sentence—nine years behind bars plus four years on extended licence.
HHJ Van der Zwart indicated a restraining order and Sexual Harm Prevention Order would also be on the cards.
