Peekaboo Burglar Creeps Into Homes While Kids Sleep
Steven Sunderland sneaked into two homes on the same street in Clifton, Nottingham, in the dead of night. CCTV caught him fiddling with door handles and walking straight into bedrooms while residents slept.
Chilling Intrusion into Children’s Bedrooms
On 16 July 2023, Sunderland slipped through a patio door of one flat and entered a bedroom where two children were sound asleep. Disturbingly, he also walked into the parents’ bedroom on the CCTV footage but left empty-handed.
He didn’t stop there – Sunderland tested another door down the street and entered a porch area of a third property.
Car Theft at Queen’s Medical Centre
Just four days later, Sunderland stole a car parked outside the children’s A&E at the Queen’s Medical Centre. The owner had left the vehicle while seeking emergency treatment. The stolen car was later found being driven around Clifton with fake number plates.
Jail Time and Driving Ban for Sunderland
The 33-year-old from Waterdown Road, Clifton, admitted to two burglaries with intent, one attempted burglary, motor vehicle theft, and driving offences including without insurance. On 18 October, Nottingham Crown Court slammed Sunderland with a three year and four-month prison sentence.
He also received a 27-month driving ban to keep the roads safer.
