Drug Dealer Ashley Nation Ripped Off by Police – Must Pay £9k or Face More Jail
Ashley Nation Slapped with Huge Confiscation Order
Ashley Nation, the 36-year-old drug dealer locked up for nearly five years, is now on the hook for £9,174. The sum includes cash, money in bank accounts, plus fancy designer clothes and shoes seized by cops. Maidstone Crown Court set the deadline: pay up within three months or serve another six months behind bars.
Drugs, Designer Goods, and Dirty Deals
Nation’s downfall began in May 2019 when police raided his Maidstone flat. Officers found piles of pricey goods—many still in boxes—and almost £3,000 in cash. Plastic packaging had apparently been flushed down the toilet, with white powder residue visible around the bowl. Weeks later, another search led to the seizure of high-value items worth over £30,000. A nearby car was also searched, revealing quantities of cannabis and cocaine.
Co-Defendant Also Hit With Confiscation
Laura Hughes, 39, Nation’s co-defendant, didn’t escape punishment. She cashed Nation’s drug profits into her accounts and was hit with a confiscation order for £23,124. Previously convicted and given a suspended sentence for converting criminal property, Hughes must pay the court or face the inside.
Police Fight Back Against Crime Cash
“Kent Police does not stop at conviction,” said Detective Inspector Annie Clayton. “The Proceeds of Crime Act is one of our biggest weapons. We claw back anything criminals use to fund their lifestyles—cash, cars, even flash homes. Offenders can keep paying for their crimes long after prison.”
