Derby Gun Threat Horror: Man Points Gun at Ex-Partner’s Forehead
Gun Threat at Derby Nightclub
Sunil Sidhu, 40, from Sinfin Lane, Derby, sparked terror with a chilling text saying, “I’ll put my guns on you” just days before confronting his ex at The Blue Note club in Sadler Gate.
On Friday 7 October 2022, Sidhu accused her of chatting up other men. The row got so heated that bouncers had to eject him from the venue.
Early Morning Gunpoint Standoff
Just hours later at 5.45am, the victim answered her door to find a red laser dot aimed at her face.
Sidhu stood there pointing a real gun at her forehead. She begged for mercy, but instead, Sidhu pulled out another firearm and casually loaded bullets while wearing a bulletproof vest.
Only after desperate pleas did he finally leave the scene.
Justice Served at Derby Crown Court
Sidhu appeared at Derby Crown Court on 23 March 2023. He pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm and possession of an imitation firearm.
He was slammed with a hefty five-year jail sentence.
Police Praise Victim’s Courage
“The fact that Sidhu decided to point a gun into the face of his ex-partner shows the level of intimidation he was willing to go to to control her behaviour,” said Detective Inspector Rebecca Hall of the Domestic Abuse Team.
“The victim was understandably terrified but has been incredibly brave in helping us bring Sidhu to justice.”
“Sidhu now has time behind bars to reflect on his actions. Such threats of violence are never acceptable, particularly in relationships.”
“We hope this sentence sends a clear message to anyone in similar situations that we will pursue and prosecute offenders to the fullest extent.”
