Six Arrested After Brawl Leaves Five Men Injured in Rochester

Chaos erupted on Anchor Road, Rochester, around 7.30pm on Thursday, June 23, 2022, when a violent fight broke out involving a group of people at a local property.

Five Men Hurt, Hospitalised and Released

Police rushed to the scene after reports of the fracas. Four men suffered facial injuries, and one man sustained a head injury. All were treated in hospital and later released.

Three Charged with GBH and Violent Disorder

  • Sonny Whiting, 33, and Charlie Beaney, 20, both from The Tideway, Rochester, along with Jerry Devlin, 24, of Stock Close, face charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and violent disorder.
  • Whiting and Beaney also face charges for carrying offensive weapons in public.
  • David Devlin, 57, from Stock Close, has been charged with criminal damage threats.

Jerry Devlin appeared at Medway Magistrates Court on Saturday, June 25, and was remanded to Maidstone Crown Court for a hearing on July 25. Whiting and Beaney were granted bail to appear at the same Crown Court date. David Devlin was bailed to return to court on July 6.

Additional Arrests and Police Appeal

Alongside the five men, a 54-year-old woman and a 17-year-old male from Rochester were also detained and later bailed to return to the police station in July.
