Drunk Driver Caught Nearly Three Times Over the Limit
Carvell was arrested at the scene. A breath test revealed she had 100 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath—almost triple the legal limit of 35 microgrammes. She later confessed to driving drunk and dangerously during a police interview.
Jail Time and Long Ban for Reckless Motorist
At wolverhampton-crown-court/" title="Wolverhampton Crown Court" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="883">Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday 8 January, Carvell pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Judge Berlin locked her up for 18 months and slapped a driving ban of four years and nine months.
“It is necessary to imprison Carvell as she poses a danger to the public,” Judge Berlin said.
Sergeant Mark Crozier of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit warned: “This crash shows the deadly risks of drinking and driving. The firefighter’s career is ended, and our thoughts are with him as he recovers.”
