Bristol Drug Dealer Locked Up After Public Tip-Off
Big Bust at Bristol Crown Court
Mazin Mohammed, 28, from Claverham Road, was sentenced today at Bristol Crown Court for possession of heroin and cocaine with intent to supply. The court handed down a hefty 10-year prison term, reduced to seven and a half years thanks to his guilty plea.
Tip-Off Leads Police Straight to Drugs
Mohammed’s arrest in December followed a crucial call from a member of the public reporting a suspected drug deal. Police tracked the vehicle involved and swooped on Mohammed at his home, finding a huge stash of class A drugs.
The seized drugs carry a street value of around £82,000, dealing a serious blow to local drug crime.
Officer Applauds Public Vigilance
PC Louise Jones, leading the drug crime team, said:
“Mohammed was caught red-handed with a large quantity of class A drugs. Facing overwhelming evidence, he had little choice but to plead guilty. He tried to profit from the misery drugs bring to people and communities. We welcome the custodial sentence he has received.
She praised the public for their key role:
“This arrest happened because a member of the public reported a suspected drug deal. That call enabled us to move fast, seize drugs and secure this conviction. We hope this encourages others to keep reporting these crimes so we can clean up Bristol’s streets.”
Fighting Drug Crime for Safer Communities
Drug crime wreaks havoc on vulnerable communities. Police have a dedicated team working closely with local people, partner agencies, and forces nationwide to bring drug dealers to justice and protect Bristol’s neighborhoods.
