Brutal Stabbing on Peacock Street: Victim Left Fighting for Life
A shocking double ambush on Peacock Street left a man severely injured on Wednesday, 17 June 2020. The victim suffered five stab wounds to his legs, lost several teeth, and was covered in cuts and bruises after attacks by two separate groups within minutes of each other.
Attackers Flee in Audi After Vicious Assault
Edison Kaculi, 28, with no fixed address, was the first to strike. He violently shoved the victim off his bike, then unleashed a barrage of punches and kicks. CCTV footage later revealed Kaculi and two accomplices arrived in a black Audi and fled the scene in the same vehicle, leaving the victim beaten and bloodied.
Second Gang Joins Assault and Robs Victim
The horror didn’t end there. Moments later, a second car pulled up, and three men launched a fresh attack. The victim reported to police that two mobile phones and £300 cash were stolen during the ordeal.
Police and Court Clamp Down on Violence
Kent Police were called around 8:55 p.m. to reports of a man being assaulted outside a convenience store. Four men were swiftly arrested and later sentenced to a combined nine years behind bars in December 2021.
Kaculi initially denied stabbing but pled guilty to attempting to cause grievous bodily harm. After a lengthy manhunt, he was caught in gravesend/" title="Gravesend" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Gravesend on 7 December 2021, following a police chase where he abandoned his vehicle.
“This was an appalling attack in front of terrified members of the public that was the cause of great concern among members of the community at the time,” said Detective Constable Dan Bister of the Chief Constable’s Crime Squad.
“Edison Kaculi and the others involved did not appear to care whether their victim lived or died. They can count themselves fortunate he survived such serious injuries.”
“There is no place in Kent for this or any other level of violence, and we will not rest until those responsible are brought to justice.”
