Kent Village Locked Down After Armed Police Swoop Over Weapon Scare
Kent Police sparked panic in sleepy Otham village after sending armed officers racing to an address on White Horse Lane amid fears a man was armed. The dramatic lockdown unfolded just after 2pm on Friday as Four-Armed Response units, a dog squad, and multiple response vehicles rolled in.
Police Helicopter Joins Armed Standoff
A police helicopter from Redhill joined the operation, circling above as officers surrounded the property. Residents on White Horse Lane and Three Tee were told to stay inside, away from windows while the tense situation played out.
Villagers Trapped as Police Shut Roads
One local, who asked not to be named, said they were stuck outside after police sealed off access to the village during the standoff. Despite the heavy presence, no arrests have been made, and no weapon was found.
Kent Police Statement: No Weapon Found
Officers were called at 1.40pm on Friday, 6 November 2020, following reports that a man was seen with a weapon in Otham Lane, Bearsted,” said a Kent Police spokesperson.
“Officers, with the assistance of a police helicopter, attended and spoke to the individual. They are now satisfied no weapon was involved. No arrests have been made.”
