Victim Tricked Into Kidnap Plot After Birthday Gig Call

A 43-year-old entertainer was lured to a Sneinton address by what he thought was a client booking him for a father’s 60th birthday party. Instead, he faced a terrifying ambush.

Masked Men Launch Brutal Kidnap and Extortion Scheme

Upon arrival on Manor Street, two men dressed in black balaclavas attacked the victim. He was tied up, gagged, and moved between properties in Wollaton and Rise Park. The aim? To extort a hefty ransom from his wife and father.

Specially trained officers sprang into action to secure his safe return.

Harrowing Escape and Full Recovery

After around 32 hours in captivity, the victim was dumped on Gawthorne Street — stripped down to boxer shorts and socks, with his arms bound and face taped shut. Police rushed him to Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment. Thankfully, he has now made a full recovery.

All Suspects Caught and Doled Out Heavy Jail Terms

Detectives used phone data and ANPR cameras to track down all those involved. Warrants led to multiple arrests, with the suspects charged and sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court.

  • Darshan Rathoor, 58, from Mablethorpe – 16 years for conspiracy to kidnap and blackmail
  • Sirvan Rathoor, 30, Nottingham – 13 years for conspiracy to kidnap and blackmail
  • Inderpal Singh, 34, Nottingham – 14 years for conspiracy to kidnap and blackmail
  • Jamie Raggett, 20, Liphook – 12 years for conspiracy to kidnap and blackmail
  • Nerver Singh, 56, Nottingham – 6 years for conspiracy to kidnap
  • Khalsa Jogga Singh-Digpal, 39, Southsea – Found guilty by a jury, sentenced to 18 years
