Father and Son Get Life for Fatal Stabbing After Robbery

Ernesto Elliott, 45, and his son Nico, 23, have been handed life sentences at the Old Bailey for the deadly stabbing of Nathaniel Eyewu-Ago. The deadly attack happened after the pair robbed him of drugs and cash in broad daylight.

Brutal Daytime Attack Caught on CCTV

The chilling incident unfolded on 2 June last year at Barge Walk, SE10. Victim Nathaniel, 35, gave chase after being mugged. Several witnesses saw the violent confrontation, including off-duty officer PC Luke Dowling, who called 999 and administered first aid.

Despite efforts, Nathaniel died on 8 June from a stab wound to the heart. Ernesto Elliott was sentenced to life with a minimum of 26 years, plus 12 years for robbery. Nico Elliott received life with a minimum of 22 years, along with 10 years for robbery. Both had time served on remand deducted.

Police Praise and Court Verdicts

Judge praised PC Dowling for safeguarding forensic evidence and rendering first aid at the scene. CCTV, phone records, and eyewitnesses nailed the Elliots at the crime spot. Nico stayed silent, while Ernesto claimed self-defense.

Detective Chief Inspector Kate Kieran said: “After robbing Nathaniel Eyewu-Ago of drugs and cash, Ernesto and Nico were prepared to use any form of violence necessary to protect their stolen property.”

The case highlights the deadly link between the illegal drug trade and violent crime, leaving trauma in its wake.

  • Justin Elliott was cleared of murder but found guilty of robbery. He got four and a half years in a Young Offender Institution, with at least half to serve before parole.
  • Nicholas Elliott, 26, of no fixed address, was acquitted of both murder and robbery charges.
