Jamie Holloway Cleared Over Fatal Police Crash

Jamie Holloway has been found not guilty of death by dangerous driving following a tragic crash that killed Mr David Shaw in Worcestershire back in 2018.

Fatal Collision on the A449

The crash happened on 28 May 2018 on the A449, between Worcester and Stourport-on-Severn. An unmarked police car, rushing to an emergency, collided with a vehicle driven by Mr Shaw, who lived in Holt Heath.

Mr Shaw suffered multiple injuries and died on 11 June 2018, leaving family and friends devastated.

Police Statement and Aftermath

After the verdict, West Mercia Police Assistant Chief Constable Rachel Jones said:

“Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr Shaw at what continues to be an extremely distressing and difficult time for them. I hope today’s verdict can offer them some form of closure.

“I can assure Mr Shaw’s family and communities across West Mercia that we take incidents such as these incredibly seriously and we are committed to taking any learning from this case and embedding it within our organisation.”

Investigation and Internal Review

The crash was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which launched an independent probe. Jamie Holloway has already resigned from West Mercia Police amid the investigation.

Despite the acquittal, an internal misconduct hearing into the incident is set to proceed.
