Thugs Jailed for Brutal Ramsgate Knife Attack
Eight men have been locked up for a total of over 30 years after savagely attacking a 25-year-old in Ramsgate town centre. The victim was left with serious injuries following a sustained assault in Harbour Street in the early hours of Sunday 12 May 2019.
Knife Attack Nearly Fatal
The victim had just left a seafront venue around 3am when the gang confronted him. The violence escalated after a friend of the victim was involved in a prior dispute with one of the group. As he walked into town, the gang shouted abuse before chasing him.
The victim was punched and kicked repeatedly before being cornered in a bakery doorway. There, they stamped on him and stabbed him in the neck. CCTV footage revealed Jacob Cromwell pulling a knife and inflicting the neck wounds that narrowly missed a major artery. The victim spent 11 days in hospital.

Police Praise Victim’s Bravery
Chief Inspector Ed Ruffle slammed the attack as “cowardly” and praised officers for their thorough investigation. He said:
“This was a cowardly assault by a group on a man who posed no threat to them. He was leaving the area after enjoying an evening out when he was chased and repeatedly attacked by a group, who looked to inflict as serious injuries as they possibly could.”
Ruffle added:
“Kent Police takes knife crime extremely seriously and is determined to track down and prosecute anyone carrying weapons or involved in violence. I would like to praise the victim for supporting our actions and hope the sentences bring him some justice.”
