Folkestone Guest House Shut Down After 40 Police Calls
The Chandos Premier Guest House in Cheriton Road, Folkestone has been slapped with a two-month closure order following a barrage of police visits.
Chaos and Crime at the Guest House
- Police were called to the property 40 times over eight months, from September 2020 to May 2021.
- Incidents included assaults, disturbances, anti-social behaviour, and drug dealing.
- A test purchase revealed underage room bookings were being offered.
Closure Ordered to Protect Folkestone Residents
The order, issued under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, bans anyone but the owner, manager, director, or authorized staff from entering the premises until 29 September 2021.
Breaking the closure could lead to court action and even jail time.
PC Carly Farrow of the Folkestone Community Safety Unit said: “Officers have frequently been called to the address and have repeatedly tried to engage with those in charge and encourage them to operate in a way which helps us prevent offending in the town.
“This step is a last resort, but a necessary one to protect local residents and vulnerable people in Folkestone from the impact of anti-social behaviour and drug dealing.”
