Brutal Burglary: Henfield Man Stabs Two During Home Invasion
Lee Tidy, 24, from Henfield, launched a terrifying break-in on the night of February 4th. He climbed through a first-floor window at a house in Henfield Common South, triggering a violent encounter that left two men stabbed in the neck.
90-Year-Old Hero Tackled Burglar
The first victim, a 90-year-old resident, heard Tidy entering and confronted him on the landing. A fierce struggle followed. Despite being stabbed, the elderly man fought back, shouting for help as Tidy attacked.
Second Victim Also Injured
A second occupant, a 61-year-old man, rushed upstairs to assist but was also stabbed in the neck by the attacker. After the assault, Tidy grabbed a set of car keys and made a desperate escape through a conservatory window, injuring his hand and leaving a trail of blood behind.
Swift Arrest and Heavy Sentence
Police found Tidy shortly after at a property linked to him. Covered in blood and nursing a bandaged hand, he was also found in possession of cannabis. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, aggravated burglary, and possession of a Class B drug.
At Lewes Crown Court on August 25, Tidy was found guilty on all counts. On November 9, he was slammed with a 23-year prison sentence, ordered to serve at least two-thirds before parole.
This brutal home invasion has shocked the quiet Henfield community, leaving residents asking how such violence happened on their doorstep.
