Pervert Neil Jarvis Jailed for Sex Assaults at Bus Stops
Neil Jarvis pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual assault of a child after targeting victims near bus stops in Ramsgate in 2021. On Wednesday, 30 March 2022, Canterbury Crown Court sentenced the 46-year-old to two years and eight months behind bars.
Jarvis Busted Following Shocking Attacks
The first attack happened on 9 June 2021. Teenage girls waiting at a Queen Street bus stop spotted Jarvis staring at them. He then boldly touched one girl’s leg before she shoved him away. Jarvis just strolled off like nothing had happened.
Less than a month later, on 6 July, Jarvis struck near the Plains of Waterloo bus stop. He sneaked up behind a woman and grabbed her from behind. The brave victim elbowed him and called her husband, who snapped a photo of Jarvis, helping police track him down.
Child Victim Targeted in Third Offence
The sick trio of attacks culminated on 23 September at the same Queen Street bus stop. Jarvis was caught eyeing a phone held by a four-year-old girl. When her mum pulled her away, he crossed the line again by slapping the child’s bottom.
Justice Served with Tough Sentence and Order
Police used CCTV and the husband’s photo to identify and charge Jarvis with all three offences. He was slapped with a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, banning unsupervised contact with anyone under 16.
PC Sonja Lupton, investigating officer, said: “Every woman and girl has a right to feel safe in the communities in which they live and that is why tackling violence against women and girls is a priority for kent-police/" title="Kent Police" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="4884">Kent Police.
“Jarvis’s actions against these victims were abhorrent and I hope the fact that the offender has been held to account gives them some sense that justice has been done.”
“We are committed to bringing perpetrators of such offences to justice and I encourage any victims who have not reported similar offences to do so as soon as possible, either through our website or by calling 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress.”
