Man Busted at Channel Tunnel with £8,800 and Fake IDs
Dorjan Stafa, 36, was caught red-handed at the Channel Tunnel terminal near Folkestone in May 2019. Kent Police’s Frontier Operations team grew suspicious of his behaviour and decided to search his Mercedes.
Cash, Phones, and Fake Documents Found
Officers discovered around £8,800 in cash, two brand-new iPhones, and identity documents that didn’t belong to Stafa. When questioned, he couldn’t explain where the money came from.
Linked to Criminal Network Forging Fake IDs
An investigation revealed Stafa was working with a gang supplying false documents. He was charged and later admitted to conspiring to facilitate a breach of UK immigration law.
Jailed for Over Four Years to Protect UK Borders
On 30 November 2022, Stafa, from Ramsay Road, Forest Gate, east London, was given a hefty jail term of four years and seven months at Canterbury Crown Court.
Detective Constable Alex Milward said: “The money and the documents seized from Stafa’s car would otherwise be assisting criminal networks in the UK and abroad. The vigilance of our team on the UK border is part of our relentless 1 to disrupt these groups’ activity and protect the public.”
