Grandson Jailed for Grandma’s Death in Brighton

Pietro Addis, 20, from Ring Road, was convicted of manslaughter over the death of his grandmother, Susan Addis, 69. Susan was found dead in her Cedars Gardens home in Brighton on Thursday, 7 January 2021.

Acquitted of Murder, Given Manslaughter Verdict

At Lewes Crown Court on Friday, March 3, a jury cleared Pietro of murder, citing diminished responsibility. However, he was found guilty of manslaughter.

Sentenced to 15 Years for Tragic Killing

On Friday, 5 May, the court sentenced Addis to 15 years—10 years behind bars and 5 years on extended licence.

Police Pay Tribute to Victim and Family

Detective Superintendent Mark Chapman said: “This is a tragic case in which a much-loved grandmother, who was widely respected in the Brighton and Hove community, has lost her life in the most terrible circumstances.

Our thoughts remain with the Addis family and loved ones who have behaved with dignity and compassion throughout this harrowing ordeal.”
