Gun Duo Nabbed After London Traffic Stop

A man and woman have been convicted for holding and transporting a loaded firearm in London following a dramatic police operation.

Bekki Dean, 26, of Carshalton, and Bradley Clancy, 39, no fixed address, were found guilty of serious firearms offences after a nine-day trial at Croydon Crown Court.

Glock Found in Luxury LV Bag

On the evening of 14 August 2019, specialist firearms officers stopped a black Volkswagen Polo on Peterborough Road, Carshalton. Dean was behind the wheel.

Asked if there was anything illegal in the car, Dean shocked officers by admitting there was a gun inside a Louis Vuitton bag.

Inside the brown LV bag was a smaller black pouch containing a Glock 19 9mm pistol with a loaded magazine. The firearm was later confirmed by forensic experts.

Phone Evidence Ties Clancy to Crime

Dean was arrested immediately and claimed she was forced to carry the gun under duress, too scared to name her intimidator. She refused to identify anyone, even when questioned about “Bradley.”

But a deep dive into Dean’s phone revealed photos of a driving licence for Bradley Clancy. The pair had exchanged calls and texts multiple times on the day of the arrest. Clancy’s phone was even traced near the scene.

Clancy was arrested on 17 October 2019. DNA swabs linked him directly to the Glock’s muzzle. This forensic match sealed the case, proving Clancy’s contact with the deadly weapon.

Detective Praises Forensic Team’s Crucial Role

“The stop led to the safe removal of a dangerous firearm from London streets,” said Detective Constable Andy Snazell of the Met’s Specialist Crime South team. “Our forensic team’s work was the final piece we needed to link Clancy and secure these convictions. Without them, Clancy might never have been caught.”

“No one in London should have a gun. We’re committed to arresting anyone who breaks this law and making sure they’re locked up.”

Dean and Clancy face sentencing at Croydon Crown Court on 29 October.
