Teen Groomer Jailed for More Than Six Years After Raping 12-Year-Old
Dennis Rocha, 18, from Beck Row, Mildenhall, Suffolk, was sentenced today at Swindon Crown Court for preying on a 12-year-old girl online.
Social Media Grooming Leads to Sexual Assault
On April 8, Rocha added the victim on social media and started chatting. Ignoring her age, he quickly steered the conversation into sexual territory and arranged to meet her in Wiltshire the next day. A sexual encounter followed.
Swift Justice After Victim Comes Forward
The young victim told her mother, who promptly reported the case to police. Rocha was arrested, charged, and remanded in custody without delay.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of raping a child under 13 and received a sentence of six years and eight months. Rocha must also serve a one-year licence extension, abide by an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, and will be placed on the sex offenders’ register upon release.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery
“Rocha instigated this encounter knowing the victim was underage,” said DC Amanda Lord of the Child Abuse Investigation Team.
“He knew it was illegal but continued to exploit her for his own gain. We take crimes like this incredibly seriously and will always protect children from predators like Rocha.
“I’d like to commend the victim for her bravery and courage in coming forward.”
