Daesh Supporter Busted with ‘Colossal’ Terror Content
A dangerous extremist has been locked up after hoarding a massive stash of terror material linked to Daesh. Wissam Tariq Mahmoud Ziad, 20, from Central Avenue, admitted eight terror-related charges at Manchester Crown Court on Thursday, December 9, 2021.
Hidden Online, Spreading Hate Worldwide
Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) revealed Ziad used VPNs to cloak his identity while spreading propaganda on social media and chat groups. Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Meeks said:
“Ziad possessed a colossal amount of extremist material capable of encouraging terrorism, and used social media and chat groups to communicate with people all over the world, using VPNs to hide his identity while online.”
His digital platforms let him share extremist publications and helped others access Daesh-supporting content.
‘Dangerous Man’ Pushed Radical Ideology
Meeks added that Ziad falsely posed as a religious authority, inciting support for terror groups and pushing others to explore extremist organisations.
“He incited support and encouraged others to research extremist organisations, positioning himself as a religious authority – he is a dangerous man with extremist views and is quite rightly behind bars.”
Justice has been served, but the online fight against extremism continues.
