East London Drug Dealer Slapped with Seven-Year Jail Sentence

Taz Uddin Busted for Class A and B Drugs

Taz Uddin, 50, of Brook Drive, was locked up for seven years at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Tuesday, 16 July. The East London man pleaded guilty in June 2024 to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of Class B substances.

School CCTV Snared Drug Stash Worth Over £1,100

Tower Hamlets cops launched the investigation after a local school reported Uddin’s suspicious behaviour. Officers pored over CCTV footage from the school and uncovered more than 100 wraps of heroin and cocaine hidden in a cigarette box nearby — valued at around £1,100.

The team worked closely with the school to seize the drugs and protect pupils from harm.

Police Praise Intelligence-Driven Crackdown

Detective Inspector Sam Bennett, lead investigator, said: “I’ve seen firsthand the devastating effects drugs have on individuals, families and communities. It’s our duty as officers to not only intercept drugs but also tackle the root causes of this destructive cycle.

“Uddin’s case shows what intelligence-led policing can achieve. By building community trust, we can create safer environments where people feel encouraged to seek help.”

Further Raids Uncover More Class A & B Drugs

Police raided Uddin’s home on Brook Drive on 22 April and found additional Class A and B drugs, paraphernalia, and clothing matching what he wore in school CCTV footage.

As part of the Met’s ongoing crackdown under the ‘New Met for London’ initiative, officers are stepping up efforts to tackle drug crime, violence, and antisocial behaviour that plague communities across the capital.

Dedicated teams continue working around the clock to bring dealers like Uddin to justice and make East London safer for all.
