Drunken brawl ends in terrifying pavement car attack in Brighton

Fight erupts in early hours

Alpacino Veii, 25, from Caterham, Surrey, was caught up in a row with three others at a Brighton restaurant on King’s Road just after 5am on November 10, 2019. The scuffle spilled onto the seafront before Veii peeled off towards the Lanes car park.

Veii spins out of control on pavements

Moments later, Veii jumped into his Honda Civic and tore down Black Lion Street where he mounted the pavement on King’s Road, smashing into a man and narrowly missing several pedestrians. His rampage crashed into decking before he veered onto a central reservation and got stuck.

Quick police arrest reveals shocking details

Veii tried to push his car free but was quickly arrested. Officers found he had a provisional licence and was carrying cannabis. CCTV captured his terrifying joyride ploughing through public decking while bystanders dodged the chaos.

Judge slams Veii’s dangerous stunt

At Chichester Crown Court on Wednesday (January 23), Veii was jailed for three years for attempting grievous bodily harm and given an 18-month concurrent sentence for dangerous driving. He was also disqualified from driving for a year and slapped with a one-day jail term for cannabis possession.

Detective Inspector Neil Phillips said: “This was a shocking escalation of an argument… It could easily have had tragic consequences for those involved and innocent members of the public. It is satisfying to see Alpacino Veii brought to justice for his reckless, dangerous attack.”
