Mohammad Farooq, 27, from Roundhay, Leeds, has been charged with preparing an act of terrorism along with explosives and firearms offences, according to Counter Terrorism Policing North East. Army bomb disposal experts raced to the scene to investigate the threat.

Police: Incident Wasolated, No Ongoing Threat
“We are satisfied that there is no evidence of an increased risk to the public, within our communities, or within the UK hospital estate as a result of this investigation,” said Detective Chief Superintendent James Dunkerley, who oversees Counter Terrorism Policing North East.
Despite this reassurance, the UK threat level remains “substantial.” Authorities warn that recent history proves we cannot be complacent.
Call for Public Vigilance
DCS Dunkerley stressed the vital role of the public in keeping communities safe. “Public vigilance is critical in assisting Counter Terrorism Policing and its partners in protecting our communities from harm.”
He also thanked hospital staff and patients for their patience during the emergency: “We’re grateful for everyone’s support throughout the investigation, especially at St James’s Hospital.”
