Son Jailed for Brutal Knife Attack on Father in Bromley
Sean Maurice, 31, from Widmore Road, Bromley, has been locked up for ten years after viciously stabbing his father, Paul Maurice, in their home in September 2021. The grim sentencing was handed down at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, January 25.
Bloody Night of Horror
On the evening of Tuesday, September 14, 2021, around 10:45pm, Paul’s neighbour answered the door after multiple frantic doorbell rings. Paul appeared bare-chested, drenched in blood from 33 stab wounds. Through the pain, he named his son Sean as the attacker.
The neighbour immediately called for an ambulance. Police and the London Ambulance Service arrived quickly to administer first aid. Paramedics rushed Paul to hospital, but despite emergency surgery, he tragically died just before midnight.
Manhunt Ends in Standoff
Officers launched a frantic search for Sean Maurice. He was spotted earlier that afternoon on Burnt Ash Lane at about 3:20pm. A tense foot chase ended with Sean climbing onto a shed, triggering a brief standoff with police before he was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Investigation Uncovers Shocking Details
A post-mortem revealed Paul died from stab wounds to his chest and abdomen. Specialist Crime detectives pieced together witness reports, CCTV footage, and forensic evidence to seal Sean’s guilt.
Senior Detectice Chief Inspector Chris Wood said: “Our hearts go out to the family, devastated by that dreadful night. Sean’s troubled relationship with his father was known, but the extreme violence was shocking and unforgivable. I’m proud of my team for their hard work on this complex case.”
