Man Stabs Woman to Death Through Neighbour’s Door

On July 16, 2022, Thomas Allen brutally stabbed Samantha Murphy through a hole he’d kicked in the front door of a property on Elfrida Close.

The 37-year-old victim suffered a severe leg wound and tragically died at the scene despite paramedics’ efforts.

Attack Followed Heated Row After Socialising

Police were called to the property around 3:10 a.m. Witnesses revealed that Ms Murphy, Allen, and neighbours had been socialising earlier that night before an argument broke out.

Allen allegedly assaulted Ms Murphy at their home. She fled to a neighbour’s house for safety, but Allen followed.

He violently kicked out a panel of the neighbour’s front door and stabbed Ms Murphy through the gap as she tried to get him to leave.

Perpetrator Caught and Convicted

Allen fled the scene but was caught two hours later in Clifton Place. He was charged with murder after an investigation by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.

Following a trial at Maidstone Crown Court, Allen, 38, was found guilty on January 25, 2023. Sentencing will be announced later.

Police Condemn Violence and Offer Support

“Thomas Allen’s violent actions have robbed Ms Murphy’s family of a loving presence,” said Detective Inspector Lee Neiles. “I offer my heartfelt condolences.”

“I am pleased responding officers quickly arrested Allen and that justice has been served with his conviction.”

“If you’ve suffered abuse or violence, please contact police. We will protect you and hold offenders accountable.”
