Knife-Wielding Carlos Racitalal Caught After Spate of Shocking Attacks in Leicester
Carlos Racitalal, 33, was today convicted at Leicester Crown Court following a brutal nine-day trial. Alongside multiple charges, he was found guilty of three counts of possession of a bladed article. His terrifying spree has left victims ranging from young children to the elderly traumatised.
Spine-Chilling Attacks Across Leicester Streets
The violent incidents unfolded as Racitalal carried out vicious assaults while saving a parking spot for his mum. One victim, a young boy, was grabbed and slashed on the neck before being rushed to hospital for surgery. Luckily, he was discharged two days later.
A woman in her 30s walking along an unnamed road at 7.30pm felt a sharp sting at the back of her head. She spotted a man holding a knife with a yellow handle, who then sprinted off. The woman suffered a slash wound but survived.
Another victim, a man in his 70s, was attacked on January 16 in Dean Road. He was struck on the head and hand with a blade before the assailant fled the scene.
Car Collision and Public Appeal Lead to Arrest
Police linked Racitalal to a fourth disturbing incident on January 2 in Exploration Drive, where a five-year-old girl was hit from behind by a car that sped off. The youngster suffered a broken nose, cuts, and bruises.
The car was tied to Racitalal, who was previously spoken to by police but denied responsibility. New CCTV evidence prompted a public appeal, after which Racitalal handed himself in to Mansfield House police station—carrying the same rucksack seen in the footage.
Evidence Mounts as Killer Denies All Charges
Despite denying contact with any victims and possession of a knife during police interviews, officers found two knives in Racitalal’s bedroom: a large kitchen knife wrapped in a pillowcase and a yellow-handled Stanley-style knife.
He was arrested and charged with all offences before being remanded in custody.
Detective Inspector Tim Lindley said: “Racitalal is an extremely dangerous man with no concern or remorse for his victims. He attacked people ranging from young children to an elderly gentleman, using knives and a car before fleeing the scenes.”
“The dedication of our investigative team was relentless. Linking these attacks and gathering evidence around the clock was crucial to bringing him to justice.”
“My thoughts are with the victims, whose bravery and patience have been incredible during this traumatic time. We hope today’s verdict helps them move forward.”
