Man, 51, Killed in Fiery Dog Attack in Derby

Wayne Stevens, 51, tragically died early Saturday after being attacked by a dog at a home on Cameron Road, Derby.

Police Called to Gruesome Scene

Officers arrived just after 5:50 a.m. following reports of a man seriously hurt. Sadly, Wayne was pronounced dead at the scene.

Owner Charged Over Deadly Dog Attack

Gary Stevens, 53, from the same street, has been charged under the Dangerous Dogs Act with being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog whose actions caused death and injury.

He is due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court later today.

Tributes Pour In for Wayne “Trend” Stevens

Family and friends flooded social media with heart-wrenching messages. One relative said, “You will forever be missed.”

“R.I.P to our dear brother Wayne, aka Trend. I still can’t believe it. Still reeling from the news that you’ve died, why can’t it just be a nightmare from which we may awaken? We will always love you bro, and you will be missed forever. Fly high in heaven till we meet again.”

His brother Scott added, “R.I.P big brother Wayne Stevens, words can’t convey the grief fam. It had only been four days since we had a beer. I hope you see dad in heaven and iron out your problems since you’re neighbours for eternity now, so make peace.”

Others writing on Facebook said, “I can’t believe he’s gone. I’m very sad for your loss. Wayne, you were a nice guy to chat to, and my heart goes out to your family and friends.”

Police Confirm Identification

A police statement confirmed the victim’s identity: “Formal identification has taken place, and the victim has been named as 51-year-old Wayne Stevens.”

“Wayne died tragically as a result of injuries sustained in a dog attack. At this time, our thoughts are with his family and friends.”

Dog Put Down After Incident

Authorities shot the dog, describing it as a risk to officers and the public.
