No Fixed Abode Gunman Busted with Revolver at Dorset Hotel
Five Years Behind Bars for Firearm Possession
Thomas David Brown, 25, was sentenced to five years in prison at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday, 8 December 2022. The vagrant pleaded guilty to possessing a prohibited firearm after police found a revolver in his room.
Gun Found in Hotel Guest Room
Dorset Police were called at around 3pm on Thursday, 20 October 2022, after reports of a possible firearm in a guest room at the George Hotel on High Street North. Officers searched the room and uncovered a revolver—confirmed later to be a viable weapon.
Swift Police Action Nabs Suspect
Brown was arrested around 5pm that same day as he returned to the hotel. Detective Inspector Shaun Inkpen from Bournemouth CID praised the rapid response:
“We take all reports of offences involving firearms extremely seriously. Thanks to the swift actions of patrol and firearms officers, we removed a potentially lethal weapon from the streets and detained the man responsible.”
He added a warning to criminals and a call for public assistance:
“I hope this case sends a clear message that we will act quickly on information about firearms and deal robustly with anyone found possessing them. If you have info about gun crime, report it immediately.”
