Adrian O’Reilly’s sick stunt backfired spectacularly when he flew in from Ireland to meet a child who didn’t exist – and ended up in the clutches of the Met Police instead.
Fake Child Lures Pervert to His Arrest
O’Reilly believed he was chatting with a young girl. In reality, it was an undercover police officer pulling the strings.
When the 49-year-old landed in London and made his way to Stratford, waiting for his ‘contact’, officers swooped. He was caught red-handed with Viagra and condoms in his possession.
Met Police Speak Out on Child Predator Bust
“Our pursuit of those who engage in illegal sexual activity with children is relentless and we will use a range of tactics to identify and arrest those responsible,” said Detective Constable Ed Hickford, part of the team who nabbed O’Reilly.
“O’Reilly’s vile messages showed he was ready to act. He even got on a plane to London to carry out this abuse. But he was met by my team who arrested him and gathered a mountain of evidence, leaving him no choice but to plead guilty.”
Harsh Sentence for Dublin Man
On Thursday 14 March, O’Reilly was locked up for six years and nine months at Snaresbrook Crown Court. He pled guilty to arranging and facilitating a child sex offence.
He also received an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and will face lifetime notification requirements.
This grim case serves as a stark warning: the Met will go to great lengths to catch predators, no matter where they come from.
