Gun Offender Jailed for Five Years After Loaded Weapon Found Under Bed

Bozlu Miah, 36, from Tower Hamlets, has been locked up for five years after police found a loaded firearm hidden under his bed.

Firearm Discovered During Police Raid

On Monday 30 March, officers executed an intelligence-led search warrant at Miah’s Bethnal Green home. They uncovered a viable loaded gun wrapped in plastic and hidden inside a gift bag beneath his bed.

Immediate Arrest and Guilty Plea

Miah was arrested on 9 April and charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life as well as possession of ammunition. He pleaded guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 1 October and was sentenced to five years in prison. Both sentences run concurrently.

Police Crackdown on Armed Crime

“Officers across London are working around the clock to locate and remove weapons from the streets of London,” said PC Shah Haque from the Central East Gangs Task Force. “Tackling violent crime is a priority for the Met and we remain committed to bringing anyone who carries or holds firearms and other lethal weapons to justice.”

“The evidence gathered against Miah as part of this comprehensive investigation left him with no option but to plead guilty to these offences.”
