Spitting Fiend Gets Slap on the Wrist for Attack on Emergency Worker

Liam Bradshaw, 31, from Pinxton, faced the music at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 14 December, after admitting to a shocking assault. The court heard how Bradshaw spat in the face of a police custody detention officer just a day earlier.

Disgusting Attack in Police Cell

Bradshaw was in a cell at 1 Police Station when he pressed the call button. When the detention officer opened the hatch to speak, Bradshaw deliberately spat at them – an act described as “abhorrent and disgusting” by authorities.

Sergeant Slams Shocking Act Amid Pandemic

“To spit in the face of someone whose job is to take care of you is reprehensible,” said Sergeant Dean Tidd, custody sergeant at the station. “This was especially vile given we are in the middle of a global pandemic of a highly contagious and deadly disease.”

“I welcome this sentence, which reflects the severity of this crime.”

The role of detainee custody officers is to care for those held in police custody. Bradshaw’s vile act has brought the seriousness of assaulting emergency workers back into sharp focus.
