Birmingham Man Jailed for 11 Sex Offences Against Under-Age Girls

Samuel Hamilton, 23, from Hartley Road, Birmingham, has been sentenced to 21 years in jail at Nottingham Crown Court. He was found guilty of 11 serious sex crimes, including two rapes, an attempted rape, sexual assault by penetration, and multiple assaults on girls under 16.

How Police Cracked the Case

The investigation kicked off in November 2019 when a parent reported her 16-year-old daughter had been raped after meeting Hamilton via social media. Hamilton convinced her to meet him in Somercotes but instead took her to a secluded spot where he assaulted and raped her.

Forensic evidence from this attack linked Hamilton to another crime in Northamptonshire. Officers arrested him in Birmingham and charged him with offences spanning Derbyshire, Northamptonshire, and the West Midlands. Victims were unrelated and offences occurred between 2018 and 2020.

Police Praise Victims’ Bravery and Team Effort

“The effect of the horrendous ordeal each victim suffered will no doubt stay with them forever,” said Detective Constable Paul Butler, who led Derbyshire’s investigation. “I thank them for their immense courage and determination in what was a difficult and complex case.”

“I also want to commend all officers involved for their outstanding teamwork across three counties to bring Hamilton to justice.”

Long Jail Term and Lifetime Restrictions

Hamilton will serve 16 years behind bars, followed by 5 years on licence. He’s placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and slapped with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely.

DC Butler added: “This conviction should reassure sexual offence victims that they will be listened to and supported. If anyone else has information related to this case, I urge them to come forward.”
