Man Arrested After Fatal Stabbing in Thornton Heath
A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on the evening of Thursday, December 26. He remains in custody at a south London police station.
Victim Dies at Scene Following Stabbing Attack
Police were called to Woodcroft Road, Thornton Heath, at around 9.30pm on Monday, December 23, after reports of a stabbing. Officers and the London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene.
A 60-year-old man was found outside a residential address with fatal stab wounds and was pronounced dead at 9.49pm. Next of kin have been informed, but formal identification is pending. A post-mortem will be scheduled.
Homicide Investigation Underway
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Harding has launched a homicide investigation. A 50-year-old man was initially arrested at the scene but fell ill in custody and was taken to hospital, where he remains stable.
“The victim was found injured in a residential street. While it is not a busy area, there may have been passersby who saw something. I urge anyone with information to come forward without delay,” said DCI Harding.
He added, “No matter how insignificant you think it is, please make the call. We are piecing together the events leading up to and after the attack that cost a man his life. Your tip could complete the picture.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Investigations continue. Police believe the victim and suspect knew each other.
