Cambridge Man Jailed for Brutal Attack on Ex-Partner
Patrick Blenman Locked Up for Assault and Arson
Patrick Blenman, 56, from Consort Avenue, Cambridge, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison at Reading Crown Court today (21 April).
The verdict came after a trial last month where a unanimous jury found Blenman guilty of assault, arson, and false imprisonment. He was cleared of making threats to kill following the five-day hearing.
Horrific Attack Details Revealed
In the early hours of 10 August 2021, Blenman assaulted his 32-year-old former partner at a property on the third floor, jumping from a window during the attack.
He then padlocked the victim inside the building and set it on fire in a terrifying act of violence.
Blenman was arrested the same day and promptly charged.
Police Speak Out on Domestic Violence Crackdown
“I’m pleased that Patrick Blenman has been jailed for this horrendous attack on his former partner,” said Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Sergeant Ryan Powell.
“This was an extremely traumatic experience for the victim. Our force is relentless in pursuing and disrupting perpetrators of violence against women and girls. Last year, we boosted formal action on domestic abuse cases by 32%.”
“Policing is crucial in preventing harm and delivering justice. But we must also work closely with partners and communities to tackle this ongoing societal issue.”
