Brutal Attack Lands Lee Gerrard Slator Behind Bars for Over Three Years
Lee Gerrard Slator, 41, from Beverley Road, Weymouth, has been jailed for three years and four months at Bournemouth Crown Court. He admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent against his former partner.
The court also slapped him with a 10-year restraining order to keep him away from the victim.
Shocking Assault After Bike Shopping Trip
The terrifying ordeal began on 18 March 2021 when Slator and his ex-partner went shopping for a bike in Weymouth. When the bike he wanted wasn’t available, Slator lost it. He pushed and dragged the woman in the street before briefly calming down.
The victim, sadly, accepted this violence as normal, saying she had grown used to Slator’s aggression.
But the nightmare was far from over.
Violent Rampage Ends with Serious Injuries
Back at Slator’s home, he exploded again – punching a window until the glass shattered and injuring his hand. He hurled a toolbox from the window before turning his fury on the woman. He pummeled and stamped on her, leaving her unconscious with a brain bleed and multiple facial fractures.
When she tried to flee the next morning, Slator chased her down. Neighbours described her as “looking like she had been in a car crash.” Several bystanders stepped in, and an ambulance rushed the victim to hospital. Police arrested Slator at the scene.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery as Justice Is Served
“The injuries I witnessed were among the worst in my career,” said Detective Constable Kate Rhodes of Western CID. “The woman was terrified and initially hiding under a blanket. She feared what Slator might do if she spoke out.”
“Despite that fear, she found the courage to confide in me. Her bravery allowed us to build a strong case without her formal complaint.”
DC Rhodes hailed the victim as a survivor whose courage sends a message to others trapped in abusive relationships. “Victims should never suffer in silence. There is support out there, and we are here to protect them.”
