Doncaster Man Jailed for Axe Robbery and String of Burglaries
Stuart Bocock, 30, from Thorntondale Road, Doncaster, faced Ipswich Crown Court today (Tuesday 10 November). He admitted a series of crimes, including a brazen robbery and multiple burglaries across Suffolk.
Robbery Caught on Quay Lane
The trouble started at 5.30pm on 18 December 2019. A man and woman were loading handbags packed with jewellery, an iPhone, keys, and other valuables into their car on Quay Lane, Sudbury. Bocock struck, snatching the items from them.
He was arrested months later on 11 June in Doncaster, charged with robbery and possession of an offensive weapon – an axe.
Burglaries Galore: Perfume, Sledgehammers & Safe Cracking
At court, Bocock also pleaded guilty to three burglaries. One was at Boots on Market Hill, Sudbury, in the early hours of 13 December 2019, where he stole a haul of perfume and aftershave.
In January this year, he smashed into Hennessey Lifestyle in Little Whelnetham with a sledgehammer, making off with cash. That very same morning, he broke into Nethergate Brewery on Rodbridge Hill, Long Melford, cracking open a safe.
Detective Hails Sentencing as a Win for Victims
“To see Bocock jailed is very satisfying as the damage and distress he caused were considerable,” said investigating officer DC Mulley.
“Burglary is a horribly intrusive crime that leaves victims deeply upset. I understand the impact of these incidents on those affected. This sentence sends a clear message to others that courts take such offending very seriously.”
