Man Jailed for 11 Years for Savage Rape Attacks
Ickerson Dias Barreto, 39, from Larch Road, NW2, was locked up for 11 years at Harrow Crown Court on Thursday, 15 December. He was found guilty of two counts of rape, plus assault and battery.
Brutal Attacks on Woman He Knew
The court heard how Barreto used threats and intimidation to terrorise a woman he knew. He raped her twice: once in 2021 at a Streatham address, and again in June 2022 at his home. During the second attack, he even assaulted her in front of her young daughter.
Victim Shows Remarkable Courage
After the second horrific attack, the victim bravely reported the crime to police. Barreto was arrested but denied everything.
DC Maria Giannakidou, lead investigator, said: “I would like to commend the courage and strength of the woman in reporting these offences to police; I can only hope that she feels some level of comfort knowing her attacker is now behind bars. I also hope Barreto’s conviction sends a powerful message to others who feel trapped in a cycle of violent abuse; please contact the police – we have specially trained officers who will support you, and investigate the allegations with the aim of putting those responsible before the courts.”
