Life Behind Bars for Essex Man in Brutal Stabbing Attack
Christopher Crichton, 33, from Park Street, Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, has been handed life imprisonment with a minimum of 15 years at Norwich Crown Court. He pleaded guilty to the savage attack in a previous hearing.
Victim Found With Stab Wounds Near Bungay
On the morning of Monday 26 April 2021, police were called just after 8.40am after a woman in her 20s was spotted in distress in Yarmouth Road, Kirby Cane, near Bungay. She was then seen being driven away from the area.
Later, at 11.20am, Suffolk Police received reports of a woman found with stab wounds in Levington Lane, Nacton village.
Attack Fueled by Fear for Beloved Dog
The court revealed Crichton had assaulted the woman earlier that day. She returned to the address fearing he would harm her dog. Upon her return, Crichton viciously stabbed her multiple times in the leg and back on the driveway.
He then forced her into a car, claiming he was taking her to hospital. Instead, he drove her to Nacton and left her abandoned in a lay-by. A passerby discovered the injured woman, who was airlifted to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridgeshire with severe injuries.
Ongoing Fight to Recover
The victim spent two weeks in hospital and continues receiving treatment as she battles to heal from her injuries.
Christopher Crichton was arrested at Copdock Retail Park in Ipswich at 12.20pm and later charged with the brutal attack.
