Deadly Crash at Greyhound Roundabout: Man Killed After Mercedes Hits Trees

A deadly crash at around 11pm on Saturday, 22 August 2020, saw a Mercedes A200 smash straight over the Greyhound Roundabout at the East Lancs Road and Warrington Road junction. The car collided with trees, killing a male passenger in his 30s instantly.

Driver Sentenced for Dangerous, Drunk Driving

Reece Entwistle, 30, from Deansgate Lane, Timperley, was arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving and driving over the drink/drug limit. He pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing.

On 14 November 2020, Bolton Crown Court hit Entwistle with a hefty sentence of seven years and six months behind bars. He was also banned from driving for 13 years.

“Our thoughts remain with the man’s loved ones, and I hope this sentencing provides them with a sense of closure,” said PC Karl Horner of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit. “I also hope this case serves as a reminder about the potential consequences of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs.”
