Hartlepool Man Jailed Over Terrifying Knife and Strangulation Attack
Brutal Assault Shocks Teesside
Michael David Kettlewell, 39, has been slammed with a three-year-plus prison sentence after a chilling attack in Hartlepool earlier this year. The sentence was handed down at Teesside Crown Court on Wednesday, November 8.
On January 27, Kettlewell launched a terrifying assault on a woman, choking her and threatening her with a knife. He even threatened to kill her during the prolonged ordeal.
Victim’s Courage Led to Arrest
Although the woman couldn’t call the police during the attack, she bravely managed to send a message to a family member, who alerted the authorities. This quick thinking proved vital in bringing Kettlewell to justice.
“The victim has suffered immeasurably not only physically but emotionally and psychologically,” said Detective Constable Genyfer Smith. “I want to commend the victim and witnesses for their bravery and support throughout the investigation.”
Justice Served with Tough Sentence and Restraining Order
Kettlewell was sentenced to three years and two months behind bars and slapped with a ten-year restraining order to protect the victim.
DC Smith added: “Tackling violence against women remains a top priority for Cleveland Police. We urge anyone affected to report incidents either online or via 101. Support and safeguarding are available, and we are committed to bringing offenders to justice.”
